Movies? Probably Trainspotting, Requiem for a dream, As Far As My Feet Will Carry Me (in czech it's called simplier, Bílé peklo), Schindler's list, Repentance (Pokání in czech, a movie from Georgia from the year 1984, not the new movie called Pokání), We children from Bahnhof Zoo, and that's probably all, I don't like watching TV and even movies, but all this ones are recommended by me.

You should read more
I like everything by Irvine Welsh and George Orwell, and I've read really many books by various authors. Among concrete books, great ones are Snowball's chance in hell or Naked lunch. It's clear to see that I'm quite interested in books about this period of time and this themes.
By the way, if anyone here read it, do you think Requiem for a dream is a good book? In my opinion it's nearly impossible to read it all, and I don't understand how could they make such a great movie based on such a bad book.

The best author, whose books I have read is Terry Pratchett. I used to read a lot (I don't read as much now at all), but he really is the best of all the authors I know. The worst author (compared to what other people say about him) is Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. I have read just one book of him - Le petit prince (Malý Princ), but it was horrible in my opinion. Maybe the other books are good, but this one ...

From fantasy, I think he is one of the best authors...(not the best though, I like Tolkien a bit more...)
Did anyone read Silmarillion? I tried in Czech, but stopped about in one third, it's just too old-style written to me...

Anyway, I had read few hundreds(yes) of books, mostly fantasy, and I always get 10 from grammar and writing exercises
